Positive behaviour for learning (PBL) is up and running at Gum Flat Public School .
PBL is a whole school program that promotes positive behaviours. Each week the school will have an area of focus that actively teaches a pre-determined positive behavior.
The students and teachers had a special meeting last week where they discussed the core values that would help promote and demonstrate positive behaviours for all settings at Gum Flat School. After much discussion and brainstorming, the students, with help from the teachers, decided that the core value statement, or motto for the school should be;
At Gum Flat school we are -
- Safe
- Respectful
- Responsible
- Active Learners.
The students also decided that an echidna would be an ideal PBL mascot because they visit the school, and they are strong, resilient, have an inbuilt protective shield but they also have a soft side that shows when they feel safe.
